Mill Town Trailer
The upcoming not-for-profit independent documentary film, “Mill Town” (directed and produced by Genevieve Belcher) will tell the story of West Warwick, RI. From its beginnings in colonial times to present day, “Mill Town” will take you on the historical journey of the little mill town that was built along the Pawtuxet River. As part of what is known as the “Pawtuxet Valley”, West Warwick played a major role in the Industrial Revolution, alongside its neighbors, Warwick and Coventry. This website also features “Mill Town Minutes”, which is a companion web series to the upcoming feature-length film. The “Mill Town Minutes” series focuses on topical short videos which address subjects such as voting rights in the nineteenth century, the Civil War’s impact on this area, immigration, labor issues, and much more!
“Mill Town Minutes” is made possible in part through major funding support from the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, an independent state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Council seeds, supports, and strengthens public history, cultural heritage, civic education, and community engagement by and for all Rhode Islanders.
